Farm Animals Week 2

Image
Dear Banana's Families,  We have had so much FUN exploring Farm animals in our classroom over the last couple of weeks. Take a look at what we have been up to! We have also been learning all about patterns in our classroom over the last week. In the table toys center the friends used farm animals to copy, extend, and/or create their own AB pattern. During circle time we used the Smart Board to match and create our AB patterns.     In the blocks center we continued to build barns and farm fences for our animals to live in. In the dramatic play center we continued to engage in play as if we were a farmer on the farm. We took on various roles of farmers to care for our animals and crops!     In the art center the friends created barns and farm fences using Popsicle sticks and glue. They also used farm animals to create their own AB patterns.      We will begin talking about Zoo Animals when we return after Thanksgiving Break! REMINDER!! Next Friday, December 3rd is our Family School

Farm Animals

Dear Banana's Families, It has been a fun (short) week in our class learning all about farm animals!  Take a look at what we have been up to this week! In the art center the friends used farm stamps and hay to create their very own farm scene. The friends discussed what different animals do on the farm and their favorite farm animals while engaging in this activity.   The friends constructed farms and barns while playing in the block center. They used the different farm animals that we added to the center to guide their play and building.      In the science center, the friends used Popsicle sticks to build a farm fence. Some of the friends used picture cards to guide their fences, while others created their own design of fences.    We transformed our dramatic play center into a farm! The friends engaged in various roles as a farmer on the farm. They took care of the animals, tended to their crops, planted flowers, and loved digging in our dirt pile of kinetic sand.  In the literac

Leaves

Dear Banana's Families, It has been a fast week in the classroom learning all about leaves!  We have explored how leaves change colors, the different colors we may see during this season, and what happens after the leaves change colors. We read various stories about leaves, our favorites being "Leaf Man" and "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves." We collected leaves on a nature walk outside and used these leaves in the art center to create "Leaf Man" and in the sensory table to practice our cutting skills. The friends loved raking the leaves into a pile in the block center and using the microscope in science to look closely at different leaves and compare and contrast the unique characteristics of each leaf. The friends also engaged in a "What's Different" activity in table toys to find an object that doesn't belong or is different from the others in the picture. We hope everyone has a great weekend!
