Farm Animals

Dear Banana's Families,

It has been a fun (short) week in our class learning all about farm animals!

Take a look at what we have been up to this week!

In the art center the friends used farm stamps and hay to create their very own farm scene. The friends discussed what different animals do on the farm and their favorite farm animals while engaging in this activity.

The friends constructed farms and barns while playing in the block center. They used the different farm animals that we added to the center to guide their play and building.

In the science center, the friends used Popsicle sticks to build a farm fence. Some of the friends used picture cards to guide their fences, while others created their own design of fences.

We transformed our dramatic play center into a farm! The friends engaged in various roles as a farmer on the farm. They took care of the animals, tended to their crops, planted flowers, and loved digging in our dirt pile of kinetic sand.

In the literacy center, the friends created alphabet animals by matching uppercase letters on their animal to a upper or lower case letter on a sticker. All of the friends did a great job recognizing and matching the letters that we have learned about so far in Letterland.

In the math center, the friends engaged in a matching game using barn shapes. The friends made identified the shapes and made a match while working on turn taking skills with their friends. The friends also used unifix cubes to measure the length and height of different farm animals.

We will continue to explore our play and learning with farm animals next week and will meet our friend Jumping Jim from Letterland!

We want to wish our friend Charlotte well as her and her family are moving! We will miss her so much!

As a reminder, we have picture day on Monday, November 15th. The background for the pictures will be white, FYI!

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Suzannah and Lindsay
