Community Helpers: Dentist and Doctors

Hello Banana's Families,

We have had so much FUN kicking off our community helper theme learning about dentist and doctors. Take a look at what we have been up to in the classroom!

In the art center the friends created doctors' bags, used q tips to create skeletons, and tooth brushes to paint a happy tooth. Not pictured is the collage the friends created to show foods and drinks that are good for our teeth and bad for our teeth!

In the block center the children designed and built hospitals and dentist offices!

In the table toys center the children sorted pictures of foods and drinks that are good for our teeth and bad for our teeth. They practiced counting and identifying numbers to 20 by counting pictures of hospital and doctor's office items.

The dramatic play center has been a favorite over the last month with our center being transformed into a doctor's office and a dentist office. The friends engaged in play as dentist, doctor, patient, nurse, dental hygienist, and more! It was so fun to hear their conversations about what their problems were and how their friend could help them fix it!

Another favorite during our doctors' theme was playing the game of Operation!

The friends are getting really good at using letters to create words and develop emergent reading skills!

We also had a visit from our foundation friend, Miss Emily! She came to read a book about doctors to the friends for Read Across America Day. They had some really good questions for her about doctors!!

We hope you all have a great weekend!

Suzannah and Lindsay
